Ashwini Bhide and Ramdas Pulsale,April 21st


Ashwini Bhide Deshpande, anoutstanding vocalist of the famed “Jaipur-Atrauli”Khayal Gayaki tradition, represents the new generation of veterans worthyof wearing the mantle of the old masters.

Born into a musical family, Ashwinibegan imbibing all the traditional aspects of stylized Jaipur Gayaki under the strict tutelage of her mother, mentor, andGuru, Smt. Manik Bhide. She has received invaluable guidance from her Guru, thelate Pt. Ratnakar Pai, a senior stalwart of the Gharana. Now an artiste of immense global public acclaim, Ashwini’s contribution to Hindustani classical vocalmusic has been acknowledged by way of awards and citations. In June 2015, shewas declared the recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademy Award. She has receivedthe Government of Maharashtra’s “Sanskritik Puraskar” (2011); the SahyadriDoordarshan “Sangeet Ratna” Puraskar (2010); and the "Pandit JasrajGaurav Puraskar" on the occasion of the 75th birthday celebrations ofthe Maestro, among others. Ashwini was also the first female Hindustanivocalist to have been decorated with the prestigious "Rashtriya KumarGandharva Samman" in 2005 by the Government of Madhya Pradesh. Heracclaimed albums have been released undervarious banners including Rhythm House, Times Music, Sony Music, Music Today,Navras Records and Universal Music, among others. Finally, Ashwini also holds adoctorate in Biochemistry from the esteemed Bhabha Atomic Research Centre/University of Mumbai. Her commitment to education manifests in her many musicworkshops and seminars across India and abroad, and in her dedication to herdisciples.

Ramdas Pulsale has carved a niche for himself as an intellectual Tabla Playerwho equally an accomplished soloist and as a versatile accompanist. One of themost senior disciples of World Famous Tabla Maestro Taalyogi Pandit SureshTalwalkar, Ramdas has performed widely in all the eminent music festivals ofIndia and on global concert stages. As an accompanist, his work has rangedfrom distinguished vocalists to prominent instrumentalists from both Hindustani& Carnatic styles, and also to renowned Kathak dancers of the country. Hehas accompanied artists like Pandit Jitendra Abhisheki, PanditJasraj,Pt.Balasubramanian, Pandit Ram Narayanji, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, PanditShivkumar Sharma, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, Pandit Birju Maharah, PanditUlhas Kashalkar, Ustad Shahid Parvez, Ustad Sultan Khan, Pandit VishwamohanBhatt, Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya, Dr. N. Siddesh Bicholkar:

Having imbibed primarylessons in music since childhood, Siddhesh has been privileged to receiveguidance from his First Guru, Shri Sharad Mathkar in Goa and was subsequentlyplaced under the tutelage of Pt. Tulsidas Borkar, renownedHarmonium exponent and Guru. He holds the Sangeet Alankar certificate fromAkhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Miraj, and has been the recipient ofmany eminent music scholarships and accolades by the Government of India. As anaccompanist, he has played with eminent figures such as Pandit Jasraj, PanditGirija Devi, Ustad Zakir Hussein, Vidushi Shubha Mudgal, Pandit Nayan Ghosh,and many others. He is presently employed as a classical music teacher atSharda Sangeet Vidyalaya, Mumbai.
